Helmsley has Yorkshire's only public heated open air pool. It is run by Helmsley Open Air Swimming Pool CIO who leased it in 2020 from Helmsley Recreational Charity on a 25-year lease. The pool underwent major restoration in the winter/spring 2018-2019.
